Journal Medical Libanais (JML) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scientific quality, editorial excellence, and publication integrity. Our comprehensive quality control system ensures that every manuscript published by the journal meets internationally recognized standards for accuracy, originality, ethical compliance, and scientific merit. The journal follows best practices recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) throughout the editorial and publication process.
Every submitted manuscript undergoes a preliminary editorial assessment to determine its suitability for the journal's scope, compliance with submission guidelines, completeness of documentation, language quality, and adherence to ethical and publication standards. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's basic requirements may be returned to the authors for correction before peer review.
All submissions are screened using Turnitin or an equivalent plagiarism detection software to assess textual similarity and identify potential plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical publication practices. Manuscripts exceeding the journal's acceptable similarity threshold may be rejected or returned for revision before entering the peer review process.
Eligible manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review conducted by at least two independent experts in the relevant field. Reviewers evaluate manuscripts for originality, scientific significance, methodological quality, ethical compliance, clarity of presentation, validity of results, and relevance to the journal's scope. Editorial decisions are based on reviewers' recommendations and the scientific merit of the manuscript.
Editors carefully assess reviewer comments, author revisions, and the overall quality of each manuscript before making publication decisions. The Editor-in-Chief has final responsibility for ensuring that only scientifically sound and ethically compliant research is accepted for publication.
Accepted manuscripts undergo professional copyediting and proofreading to ensure consistency, accuracy, grammar, spelling, formatting, reference verification, and language quality. Authors are provided with page proofs for final review and approval before publication.
The journal verifies that all published research complies with applicable ethical requirements, including institutional ethical approval, informed consent, conflict of interest disclosures, funding declarations, and research integrity standards. Any suspected ethical concerns are investigated in accordance with COPE guidance.
Before publication, every article undergoes a final production review to verify metadata accuracy, author information, references, DOI assignment, formatting consistency, figures, tables, supplementary materials, and publication files (PDF and XML where applicable). This process ensures that the published Version of Record is accurate, complete, and suitable for long-term indexing and archiving.
Journal Medical Libanais continuously evaluates and improves its editorial policies, peer review procedures, and publication practices to align with international publishing standards and the expectations of leading indexing services, including Scopus. Feedback from authors, reviewers, editors, and readers is used to enhance the quality, transparency, and efficiency of the journal.
Through our efficient and rigorous editorial, peer review, and production processes, Journal Medical Libanais ensures that every published article reflects the highest standards of scientific excellence, ethical publishing, and academic integrity.
